About the Program
New Mexico Agricultural Leadership (NMAL) is a practical, seminar-based leadership experience for growing professionals. Our mission is to develop knowledgeable, multicultural leaders for New Mexico's agricultural, food, and natural resource industries. We accomplish this through 6 in-state seminars, a trip to Washington, D.C., and an international experience. Seminars includes site visits, workshops, meetings, travel, and individual leadership growth. Apply to NMAL
Tuition for the class includes workshop expenses, speaker fees, leadership books and assessments, tour costs, group transportation, and seminar meals when we have guest speakers. We often have participants sponsored by their employers or companies as a professional development investment. Tuition for the entire 18-month program is $3,500. We request a $1,500 deposit by the first seminar, with a full year to contribute the remaining balance. Scholarships are available! Please indicate your interest and need in your application. Visit our Application Page and click "Program Overview" for a complete description.
NMAL is housed in the Agricultural & Extension Education Department in the College of Agricultural, Consumer, and Environmental Sciences. The program is organized by a full-time program coordinator, and guided by a six-member board of directors. We are a member of the International Association of Programs for Agricultural Leadership (IAPAL). The program is funded by participant tuition, sponsorships, support from the New Mexico Legislature, and New Mexico State University.
